Mr. Gasket Performance Chip

I was under my dash looking for some antenna wiring when I got the bright idea to pull down the ECM and take a look at what chip was inside it as I've recently purchased the car and was not familiar with this particular one. To my suprize I had this inside looking back at me:

It pulled right off and revealed the eprom.

Overall the car seems to run better without it, I'm guessing this was just some 80s/90s snake oil product as I cannot imagine how it worked with fitting over the original eprom

For reference it is a LB9/700r4 iroc.

anyone ever seen this thing?

Re: Mr. Gasket Performance Chip

Wow, whom-ever did that didn't know what they were doing. Not only that but it appears to be a chip for a C3 ECM. This is due to it being in the RN holder. Does the MrGasket chip have 4 less pins then the stock chip (24 vs 28)?

Note that ACXT is the correct calibration for your car. So that is a good sign.

RBob.

LOL, that is a first for me.

i wonder if someone had a 85 w/LB9 and decided to plug their chip into their newer car however they could.

i never knew Mr Gasket was in the chip market to begin with.

Re: Mr. Gasket Performance Chip

I just checked the Mr. Gasket chip, it does have 24 pins vs the chip in the car having 28. Guess it was just there for decoration.

numbers on the bottom of it read 2S181A-CU
