My '99 vintage Diacom laptop died

Last night I tried to use Diacom for the first time in ~2 yrs, and the drive is dead. I have a 2006 vintage Dell Latitude D820 (my daily use PC). Are there any options where I can use an adapter with the Diacom's parallel port cable to a serial port or USB on the new laptop?

I guess I got my money's worth out of Diacom in years past, but if I can salvage it by getting the cable to work with a new laptop, that would be great. If not, I'll need a replacement. If anyone has any suggestions that are low-cost, I'd appreciate it.

just do a google search for USB to Parallel adaptor. There are lots of them out there. Pretty cheap usually.

Thanks. I've heard some of those are flaky. Diacom itself was flaky. My then brand-new laptop had to have the CPU-cache disabled in the BIOS menu in order for the TPI cable to work. It will be interesting how it runs on an even newer(faster) PC!

What about a new HD for the old laptop ( dirt cheap now ) and just a minimum install of WIN 98 for Diacom use only?
