DFI, Cant get a good idle, got the headers glowing.

Well, I'm trying to get my Accel Gen 7 set up going. ZZ4 crate motor w/ super ram, 1.6 RR, SLP 1 3/4 headers. Trying to run sequential. Using LC-1 wideband.

Can't get it to idle/stay unless I give it a little gas to hold it at 1500-1800rpm. I thought I had the timing adjusted w/in a degree or two, but I can't get it steady enough to get dead on. I couldn't get it to start w/o locking the timing at 12. It's taking a good 4-5 seconds of cranking to get it to catch.

I was trying to tweak the base map at the one spot I was operating at. I was going to go from there. It was a bit lean at 15.x. Had to shut it down when I saw the bright orange headers.

I'm just starting to learn how to tune. Any ideas?

Are you sure you don't have any vacuum leaks? That's what it sounds like to me.
But send your cal to my email, I'll help you.
Remember headers will glow if you too much fuel as well as if the timing is retarded. It's just burning fuel in the pipes.

This exactly happened to me a couple of times on different cars, it was because my distributor was 180 out. Pulled off the cap, lifted the distributor just enough to turn the rotor exactly 180, re-set the timing afterwards. Can happen on carbed cars too.
