command control module

Can somebody tell me where to find the command control module on an '89' IROC? This module reads the chip in the ignition key and sends 12v to the distributer. It should have 4 wires exiting it, and be about 2"x2"x.5". I've been told by a dealership mechanic that it is probably causing it to shut off after starting and running fine for 10 to 20 seconds. I have looked behind the instrument panel and kick panel with no luck. Help would be sincerely appreciated.

Bad info from the dealer. No such thing exists in the 3rd gens f-body's.

The VATs module 'reads' the key chip. But does not operate as you posted.

Check the resistance of the injectors, must be above 12 ohms. The stock Multec's have the coils shorting out which prevents them from firing.

Other things to check is fuel pressure and the ignition control module. From there the pickup coil (in distributor) and the ignition coil.

If VATs was bad (can't read key) the car wouldn't start at all. Once running VATs is out of the picture.
