How To Find Out What ECM I Have

I need to find out what ECM I have and if its the PROM type that can be used for tuning. Is there a specific ECM number I need to have in order for me to start looking into tuning? The PO did a cam job on it and didn't have a chip burned for the ECM and now the car idle surges a bit.

Re: How To Find Out What ECM I Have

A stock '90 L98 f-body will have the 1227730 ECM. Uses a 256 kb PROM. MaskID is $8D.

There are several ways to approach tuning with that ECM.

Re: How To Find Out What ECM I Have

And yeah I read some of the other tuning posts and it seems like everyone goes to moates and uses the g1 adapter with the chips. Also I was reading about using a ZIF for quick access. Have to do some more research on that stuff. Just getting started with tuning and it looks complex but I think I can figure most of it out.

Ok I know I recognize the Idle Air Control accronym but I got lost at param lol.....I assume it is parameters since their were number values associated with the info and the difference in the drive and park/neutral. But again Im am constantly learning about tuning and this info is actually helpful because the IAC is def one thing that needs adjusting due to the larger cams, pretty much a big factor why I even got into the tuning aspect of our cars. Thanks again Tuned.
