tpi woes

Long time looker, first time poster.

Excellent source of info.

Here it lies, the hopes of getting my 86 Tans Am (305 TPI)rocking for the holiday weekend.

No injection on bank 2. Done all the usuals, injectors ohm at 16.3/5 acroos the board on all 8.

bank 2 (not firing) Pin of connector to pin of connector of alll 4 injectors 4.8 ohms one pin 9 ohms other. to ground 35 ohms and 30 ohms.

Bank 1 (working) 8.8 on pin to pin, 28.1 and 36.1 on pin to ground.

And fuses for injection have power and are intact.

Driving me nuts, fresh install, finising someone elses project, leaning toward bad driver in comp. Does this stand to reason?

Hoping for a guru to step up, in my hour of need.

Thank you.
Jon

Re: tpi woes

Is that a 165 variant?
There is only 1 injector driver in there so if one bank work then it would have to be something in the harness.

Re: tpi woes

After running around, got back to the house today, and for kicks, checked the local "zone." In amazement, had an ecm somebody ordered last year, and never picked up. No way! Any how, $84, an old ecm I had laying here, and the party begins. . . . .Nope. No fire on pass side.

Would have thought bad wire would have been detected by "ohming" wires, from engine side, shorted, open, otherwise.

Guess I'll have to crack open harnesses, unless somebody else has any other suggestions.

Once again guys, thank you for the help, suggestions, and the time, to help me get my time capsule going.

(even the wife likes the ride, had one when we got together 13yrs ago.)

Re: tpi woes

Anyone else ever open the harnesses on thier 3rd gen. Duct tape on wire gangs? Really? Are you kidding? Guess the general was looking to save some quids. F IT,DUCK IT!

Anyone else have any problems in these areas, such as wher injection wires gang together? Tape deteriorated, but connections "appear" clean. Maybe I'll redo them anyway, solder and seal never hurt anything I know of.

BAH! Time for a couple of cold ones.

Re: tpi woes

Quick late night brain storm. Did find old alarm module under dash. Maybe hack butchered into injection power from fuse box to one of the injector circuits for kill. . . . something else to check tomorrow I guess.
Goodnight all. Tomorrow another day.
