Bad ECM or Memcal

Let me start off with my setup. I have a 91z 355 superram tpi, nothing on the moter is stock. I have been burning my own eeproms for awhile then i upgraded to a moeates Ostrisch 2.0 and his usb aldl connector.
Problem is i cannot connect my laptop to the 730 ecm though the data port, nor can i pull any codes from the ses light. All the ses light will do is stay on with the key on and while the engine is running. No codes, not even a code 12 will come up. I have no speedo, and its seems to be only running in limp mode. Everything seems to working right with the Ostrisch, being able to upload new bins to it and communicate with the laptop. Im lost as to wether this is a ecm issue or memcal or something else. Oh i do have three ecms that i did swap out and had no change so its kinda. Any ideas please, id hate to throw money at a ecm or prom and not really need it.

Upload bin to emulater, Verify then click emulate. Check engine light should then come on, blink and stay on till engine started.

Also have to change Mask ID to AA to disable checksum.

HTH!

I changed the chip code mask from 141 to aa and it says it's emulating now in the bottom left corner on Tuner Pro RT. But it still will not connect through the aldl port. JUST SAYS DA connecting and it just sits there. Any other ideas ?

test the orange wire at the ecm labled BA8. That is the serial data line from the ecm to the c207 connector and then it goes straight to the ALDL connector. Test to see if you have closer to 5volts on that line.

I performed the test that is in the gm service manual and both connections checked out ok.

Re: Bad ECM or Memcal

I found the problem, ended up removing my ostrich emulator and replaced it with the factory EEPROM. Still would not throw a code 12 while jumping the aldl port, so I plugged in a entirely different memcal ( was for a v6, why I didn't before) and she flashed the check engine light code 12. I did not have a chance to connect my laptop to see if the USB data link would work now though. But I guess I'm buying a new memcal

When you first turn the key to the "on" position. The check engine light should flash once very quickly and then remain solid. That is a normally functioning memcal. If it doesn't do this then you probably need a memcal.Your SES light bulb could be bad too,but it's rare. Ecm's are easy to find. Looking at $25 from a junkyard.
