Bypass MAF burn-off circuit for digital MAF
I'm trying to get ride of my Code 36 for my L98 trans am. I'm wondering if I even need to take the time to repair this circuit since I no longer use a hotwire MAF sensor. I bought a Gratinalli maf sensor and it does not require a burn off function.
My idea is to put a 100 ohm resistor in place of the burn off relay to simulate the presence of the circuit. I plan on connecting the Orange wire for circuit 340 to the black 900 wire that goes back to the ecm. That way when the ECM closes the circuit it will detect the 12v on the line and think everything is ok.
Anybody see a problem with this? I don't think I will loose power to anything important.
I've attached the diagram I'm using

I don't believe that will work. Looking at the '7165 schematics I don't see any feed back to monitor that output. So the ECM doesn't know if anything is connected or not.
What appears to be done is that the ECM monitors the voltage output of the MAF. It needs to be between .4 and 1.9 volts during burn off. Outside of that voltage window triggers code 36.
Best bet is to clear the malfunction flag code code 36 in the BIN/PROM.
RBob.
