Trying tofigure out if I may need a new ECM, I can't Datalog, and OBD1 Scanner says unable to comunicate with vehicle.
I can get a 1227165 from Pick-n-Pull for 40 bucks, as they are loaded with S-10 pickups that used the same ecm.
May have the number incorrect in the title, as the first 4 digits are barely legible so I posted what the numbers looked like to me.

I would expect that it is a '165 ECM, 1227 not 1327. I had ALL sorts of issues with my '165 ECU trying to get it to datalog properly. Most of the time it wouldn't connect, then when it would, it would log for 10-15 seconds and then stop responding. Bought a brand new (reman) ECU, same issue, but it logs for 30-45 seconds before disconnecting. I've read at random places on the forums, some people have all sorts of issues, some have none with that particular ECU.

1227...... damnit, that makes sense. Bought another ECM, just waiting for it to arrive. I couldn't even connect with a scanner to my current ECM.Originally Posted by malcom2073

The ALDL plug itself has been known to be troublesome. IIRC, there's a thread/writeup on it somewhere on the site...
Otherwise different scanners and datalogging software all have different problems and specific methods to get them to work right. Dig around for writeups on your particular software/hardware.
