trouble shooting, code 53,54

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, thanks for looking at my question. I'm here to help find answers for my brothers in law 1989 camaro with a 350 I was told, automatic.

The car is showing code 53, and 54. He has replaces the ignition switch, and the fuel pump relay, the car will start but die right away. Next weekend we're going to go through the connectors and clean them and sort through some messed up wiring on the passenger side of the engine bay. If anyone has any tips to what the problem might be please share and if you need anymore information let me know and I'll get it. Thanks guys.

I would just check all your battery , and starter connection and alternator connections and output of the alternator. Auto parts stores test the alternator on and off car for free. If all that checks out fine more than likely you have a bad ecm.
