Which ECM

I have convinced myself that the 1227165 ECM that I am trying to communicate with has some kind of a problem. Pin A8 the Serial data termanal has (0) volts both "Key on and Engine running" and pin A9 Diagnostic term shows "0" volts key on and .5 volts engine running. I don't know, but it seems to me the Serial data terminal might be important during datalogging. I am interested in trying another 1227165 ECM and the only way that is going to happen is, I need to go out and buy another one. After all this down to the question which vehicle do I tell the auto-dismantler I am looking for an ECM from? I pickuped a bit here and there of talk on this site about the S10's have the 1227165 ECM in them. I don't know about which year and if I will need a different datalogging cable ODB1 (which I have) or ODB2 and what mask I should use for the chip in the newer ECM? I appreciate any suggestions you guys might have(newbie here).
