exploding ICM connection

Short version: bought an 86 RS 2.8. needed some body work but ran. Got the doors and a fender changed. Now wont start. Changed the coil and drove twice then would not start. fuel pump works but nothing. Pulled the cap off ....looked nasty. Went to pull the ICM and one of the clips fell apart. The two wires (yellow and green) on the clip closest to the drivers fender came apart. Does anyone know which of the two wires (green or yellow) goes on the clip closest to the firewall? I need to change the cap and rotor when I pull it all apart again.

Re: exploding ICM connection

Best bet is to replace the pickup coil, sounds like it is on it's last legs. With the distributor out also replace the o-ring at the top of the housing.

As for which wire is which, have a 50/50 chance of getting it correct. If the timing retards once the EST/BYPASS is closed and the engine is restarted, then switch the two wires.
