Hello Everyone. Awesome Forum I have been cruising for answers for a few weeks now. My little brother and I are resurrecting my 87 Iroc-Z from when I was in high School. It has sat for 12 years now.

We have got it running but its a real dog. Very little power. Idles great. runs good, just no power on the road.

I tried to pull the codes last night after changing a bad SES bulb. But now the SES light is just on constantly. I have tried the jumper on A + B on ALDL. But Light will not blink code 12 even, It just stays on constantly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

 

Could be a bad ecm if its constantly staying on and not throwing any codes whatsoever

 

I would clean the grounds. Check back of passanger head. I believe the ECU grounds there. Others areas have ground as well. A real service manual may be helpful.

 

I am new to all this forum type stuff and don't know how to ask a question properly, so here goes. How do you read the diagnostic codes on a 89 iroc? I have a Haynes manual and it gives me codes and possible solutions, but it doesnt tell me how to make sense of the series of flashes e.g. if I have a code 32 how do I know it is a 32 by the lights?

I recall 32 is EGR. Might want to clean it or if original replace it.
