1227730 vs 1228253 ECMs
1227730 vs 1228253 ECMs
These two ECMs are both found in "W" cars. The immediate differences are the orange and yellow connectors. The orientation slots are in different locations relative to the opening. They both use a memcal.
The question is:
What other differences prevents the 8253 from being used in place of the 7730 by modifying the connector's on the harness?

Re: 1227730 vs 1228253 ECMs
The '8253 is a 6-cylinder (only) sequential fuel injection (SFI) unit. The '7730 is batch fire for a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder engine, or a single 1-bbl TBI on a 4 cylinder engine.
The '8253 requires a cam sensor signal. The '7730 does not.
The pin-out of the connectors is different between the two ECMs.
