quick noob question on ECM conversion

I am getting ready to do the SD 730 ECM swap on my automatic 89 2.8 Firebird.
After I re-pin the ECM connector harness and install a 90-92 knock sensor and map sensor, will I be able to use a stock 90-92 3.1 Camaro firebird ECM chip?
Or will I need to find somebody to burn me a custom chip? (not sure if the injectors, digital EGR, 7th injector..... is going to be a issue and throw codes.

thanks in advance!

Re: quick noob question on ECM conversion

No cold start injector required so just unplug the electrical connector to it.

Unless the digital EGR is swapped over there will likely be a code tossed due to it not being functional.

As for the displacement versus injector size, I don't know. If GM increased the injector flow in the '90 - '92 cars to match the increase in displacement, it will work out.

RBob.

Re: quick noob question on ECM conversion

thank you sir!
and I got my chip situation figured out.
I probably won't bother with egr since I will most likely install headers without that provision anyway.

Re: quick noob question on ECM conversion

Gotta quick question I hope can get answered quickly. I have a lead on a half parted out 92 Camaro rs with 3.1 that still have the engine, ecm, air intake setup, etc..

It is a manual. I can still use that ecm on my auto, correct? Just need to swap in correct chip and calpak.
I did a search, but could only find info on the tbi cars, which says that ecm's are the same, just different chip

thanks in advance!

Re: quick noob question on ECM conversion

Yes, that's correct. The MEMCAL has the calibration information, knock filter and LHM parameters on it.

If you try to use the manual harness however, it won't have provisions for the TCC, Neutral Safety Switch input and 4th gear input. These would need to be added for full function.
