ECM Terminal Voltage

In the shop service manual, at page 6E1-11 (and like) it shows voltage
chart in each pin.

Question is, how do you measure voltage at pin. Do you disconnect it from ecm, turn key on, then take ground lead of voltmeter to a ground pin of connector, and other lead to each pin to find voltage........

or

Both connectors stay connected to ECM, turnk key on and you do what ?????

----------------------------------------

Assuming MC solenoids get 12 volt on both side per chart and diagram, how does it click when you turn key on

Take the colored the locking tabs off the backs of the connectors so you can access the the pins on the harness. You'll probably have to disconnect the ECM from the harness to do this.

Then plug the connectors back in to ECM.

Use a digital voltmeter to probe the terminals from the backs of the ECM connectors. The other probe goes to ground (but get it to battery ground). Some tests required the key on, others require the engine running....
