to flash or not to flash,, that is the question
to flash or not to flash,, that is the question
Greetings,,
Im a newbee here on the board so I will try to do this right,, I have a 1987 firebird, 305 carb in it that had some work done on it by a previous owner(s). I have taken it to the next step, put an edelbrock intake (non EGR) with a edelbrock performer carb, MSD cap/roter,, wires, MSD coil. Removed all emissions, pump, hoses, removed the AC and all its components, shifted to a single wire alternator, chromed painted and looking sweet. I have fired this up and still need to do the timing but sounds amazing...
with all that said, should I reprogram the computer,, or just remove the bulb. I would need to either have somebody do this for me or get a hold of an emprom reprogramer and do it myself. Not sure which path to take can anybody help me out?

The demands of a computer controlled carburetor are very small. You don't need to tune your fueling the way you would with multiport fuel injection, nor do you need to worry about the emission components. Tune your fueling with the traditional rod and jet kits available, get your hands on an L69 ECM (better spark advance table) and adjust it accordingly by turning the distributor to add and subtract timing, then buffer the signals that cause any SES light.
