2.8 wiring harness question

Hey all, I was wondering about the wiring harness on my 2.8 rs. I had to cut it open to crimp together the wiring to my o2 sensor and was wondering if the harness itself was the plastic surrounding the wires themself. I'm just trying to do preventative maintenance and make sure the wires don't start melting on me due to heat directly to the wires.
Thanks much yah

Re: 2.8 wiring harness question

The tape wrapping and convoluted tubing over the wires is to protect them from chafing. Those too will melt if they come into contact with the exhaust or EGR area.
