I'm swapping a T5 into my auto GTA 5.7. Can I use a prom from an 89 5.0 IROC? Mine I MASS air. I'm not sure if the 89 would be speed density .

 

89 would have vats enabled, if you bypass it yes it will work if you have a manual transmission. The ax pressure switch may need to be changed if the fans come on when the key is turned on . Or disconnect the wire to the ac pressure switch making the circuit normally open 87 maybe normally grounded.

 

I've never done any prom programming. With the right gear, which I've already researched, is it possible to modify that exact chip with the changes you've suggested? Or am I better off creating a whole new chip, seeing that its also a 350 whereas the IROC is a 305.

 

You are better off doing a custom tune yourself or have it done. There was never a tune for a iron headed l98 manual transmission but a combination of tunes aujm timing and fuel with the corvettes iac logic, lower idle speed would be a great start.
