Help with OTC 2000! Anybody else have one that can answer a question?
Hi All,
A friend of mine sold me his old OTC 2000 monitor. It has one cartridge with it that covers GM,Chrysler and Ford up to 89. I just changed my 88 TBI to a 91 TPI system and wanted to use the scanner (monitor) to check out the 7730 ecm and the system. My friend told me it should read the 91 systems but all I get is "+ no data" when trying to access the ecm and system. Anybody have any thought or ideas? I have been looking for the GM cartridge that goes up to 91 or 92, but nobody has it.
Thanks,
Chris

Some of the tpi systems require a different cable adapter for the otcs to work. I think our otc is a 4000 enhanced and it has two cable adapters, one standard and one tpi only. Not all tpi cars require the tpi adapter though. The machine even tells you that "tpi adapter may be required" So they dont even know when you'll need it.
I think this is probably your problem beings your getting the "no data" message. When I've tried the wrong adapter I've recieved the same message.
