multiple trouble codes out of the blue

Hi guys,

I have a 92 Z28 with a 5.7 auto trans and the car suddenly started running very poorly and giving trouble code. The car will start but will start to smell like gas and begin to flood (i think)

The codes are: 15, 21, 43, 53.

I've looked up the codes but I do not know what would cause them to trip all at once. Could it be the alternator or ECM issue? I've already changed the TPS and that didn't change anything. I do not what to start throwing money at what I do not understand.

Thank you,

Rick

My question is why would 4 codes appear at once? I doubt that the sensors suddenly all went bad. I changed the TPS and it made no difference, however I think the computer thinks that the throttle is wide open because the engine is flooding with gas.

Time to try another ECM, it will be the 1227730. Most likely will fix it. Be sure to retain your MEMCAL to move over to the other one. See sticky up top for a picture of it.

Re: multiple trouble codes out of the blue

Multiple codes appearing simultaneously make for easier diagnostics. Find the common item that relates to those codes.
