Datamaster help please
Datamaster help please
First off, am I in the right forum to ask for help on this?
I am new to data logging and not sure what I'm looking for.
That said, I have a ALDL cable hooked up and have recorded a couple minutes of idling and holding the throttle about 2000 rpm.
'89 IROC, 305, T5, NEW parts ..fuel filter, pump, cap, rotor, plugs, wires.
This is a supposed rebuilt '86 305 already in the car when I purchased. It had a carb on it but was never running. All the TPI equipment including wiring harness still in the car.
So, I have TPI installed and car running. Its missing pretty bad.
I have DTC42 which I believe is from unplugging the ECT wire to set base timing. I can see it on playback of file, but I am not getting a SES light on the dash. SES light does come on at start up like it should.
No other DTC set.
So for the logging, I'm not seeing any obvious stand out things on playback.
I can see the engine warm up and go to closed loop. It also goes back to open loop for a bit, then closed again. All the records are white with only the Long term slightly off color. Short term goes green a little bit too. Is this the ECM reporting its running lean, or is this the ECM saying I need to make this area lean?
I've only had the car running about 20 minutes in my driveway.
When I open the throttle, I have a big hesitation. I see the timing drop from ~26 to ~16 for that split second. Also see EGR voltage go up for second or two. Overall, I think (?) all this seems normal.
Anyone have advice for me to look at on this recording considering my "miss" and "big hesitation"?
I attached the recording if someone wanted to look at it.
Thanks

Re: Datamaster help please
You need to check basic like fuel pressure, vacuum, spark plug condition, etc... Is it a speed density or a MAF system?
Best of luck!

Re: Datamaster help please
I forgot to put that in the post above...
42 psi
comp on all cyl between 152-159
I just adjusted timing again. Dead on 6 now. Was at 8 because I couldn't see the pointer behind the water pump very well.
And picture of plugs here,

Re: Datamaster help please
I replaced the O2 sensor just because I didn't know the condition/age of it. I've run the engine about 15 minutes and haven't noticed any change. Still a big bog/hesitation when throttle first opened.
Fuel pressure seems to be holding about 38psi. 42 with vacuum removed from FPR.
Going to log some more...
