Complete newbie to tuning here so please bare with me. Have a 87 GTA with a vortec 350 and stealth ram. Accel 30# injectors, early lt1 f-body cam, T-5 transmission. Installed EBL today and set it up according to RBob's recommendations found here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/dfi-...-ebl-what.html
Used the EBL utility for injector size and his suggested fuel pressure to get a value of 144. Entered that into the BPC vs. VAC table in tuner pro. Also copied over the other values he mentioned from another BIN. Had a issue with the MAP but got that resolved quickly (user error). Once that was fixed the idle then started surging pretty bad. I have no idea where to go from here. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Attached photos and a idle datalog from the WUD and my current BIN with one VE learn.

Surging is usually caused by a lean area in the VE table. But I don't really see that, both the NB & WB are in the rich(er) area. Try these two things to see if the surging stops:
Zero out the "INJ - Single Fire Mode PW - PORT Only" table
Zero out the two idle SA tables:
SA - Idle Low Compensation
SA - Idle High Compensation
See if that helps get things settled down.

Thanks! Cleaned up the idle a little. Definitely doesn't surge like it did. Running a bit rough and the WB now showing very lean. Are there any other parameters I should change or do some VE Learns? Here is the idle log after making the changes you recommended.Originally Posted by RBob

Gonna be in the same boat as you pretty soon. My cam is a fair bit raunchier, though, unfortunately.
I have a feeling the results after install should have been fairly smooth. I couldn't verify my base timing since the vortec cover has no timing degree marks so that didn't match the tun, and I need to get an adjustable fpr.
Quote:
Pull the number one plug and confirm true (or as close to possible) TDC the traditional way. Observe the slit in the balancer and mark the plastic timing cover in that very spot using white out, or a strip of white sticker that you can cut into a thin line consistent with the slit on the balancer. Get timing tape and apply it to the balancer with "0" lined up on the balancer slit and the white mark (whether white out or tape). There is your TDC mark. Loosen the distributor clamp enough so that the distributor will move with light force, but not enough to move on its' own. Disconnect the EST, start the engine, and using a timing light... rotate the engine until you observe your desired timing reference being used in the bin on the balancer tape line up with the mark you made on the plastic cover. Tighten distributor clamp, reconnect EST, disconnect battery then reconnect after a few seconds, and you're done...Originally Posted by L98GTA87
