Datalogging Problems with 1227165 ECM

1987 firebird 350 TPI 700R4
Bosch 3 FI
ECM (1227165)

Having trouble with WinALDL and Tuner Pro RT. I cannot stream data with the 10k ohm resistor unplugged from my data cable. I can get data with 10k ohm resistor. However in "10k mode" also known as "ALDL mode" the engine operating characteristics are changed ( closed loop timers EST,IAC,P/N) ; Therefor, I am not getting the data I need to diagnose and fix the running problem I am having.

My Buad and COM ports are set as they should be, no problem there.

I have searched around a bit and couldn’t really find specifics. Any help appreciated.

Re: Datalogging Problems with 1227165 ECM

When you say "I cannot stream data with 10k resistor unplugged", do you unplug the resistor after you start the data stream or are you trying to start without the resistor. There are many posts about the 165 ECM and how difficult it is to data log with it. The consensus is to have the resistor in, start the engine then remove the resistor. This procedure is quirky at best but seems to be the most reliable (if you can call it reliable) way to data log. Be aware that the ECM will drop communications at random times and you may have to start the data log with the resistor several times in order to get enough info to diagnose. Connection times vary and can be random with the same ECM. HTH! and GL!
