would replacing ecm work?

I have a 92 3.1 L I want to turbo but cant till I can datalog. I have been using autoprom and tunerpro and I've verified everythibg is correct on the software side so now it's looking likes it my car. I have no codes except for airbag light is on. If I do paperwork test it does go into dingostic mode but I have no codes. I'm wondering what could be wrong that my car won't connect to autoprom? Could it be a bad ecm? If so should I buy the same 01227730 or is there an easy/worthwhile upgrade I should look into for turbo setup?

Thanks
Mitch

It could be the ALDL chip in the ECM is bad, it does happen. As for another ECM, for it to be plug & play will need to be a '7730. You will need to swap the MEMCAL over from your current ECM to the new(er) ECM.
