TBI ignition pickup

What is the count for the tbi engines distributor ignition pickup? When I say count, i mean 4x, 8x, 24x....i guess what is the reluctor pattern? I don't know the correct term. I am trying to find out if a 8 pin gm ignition control module can properly handle a 4x reluctor signal from an l31 vortec 5.7, and use the data to run ebl flash?

Re: TBI ignition pickup

It is a 4X signal, four ignition pulses per engine revolution.

What you want to do will work. Only thing to check is if the spark timing retards once the EST/BYPASS connector is closed. If so swap the pickup to ICM wires, there is a polarity.

Re: TBI ignition pickup

Thats great news. Thank you. Could the crank signal be shared by the ebl and the stock pcm of the l31?

Re: TBI ignition pickup

Probably, that would be the ref-hi and ref-low signals from the ICM.
