91 tpi 5.7 formula: how hot should the ecm be getting?

So my aunts car has been acting up for the better part of two years. I replaced the injectors because I found two had shorted. Dropped the tank new fuel pump cleaned tank because it sat for about a year with an empty tank and I didn’t wanna funk up the injectors. It has randomly been throwing a code for ignition and incorrect ecm but can go for weeks running perfect then light comes on and it starts shooting flames from the tail pipe. I had thought some of the wires had been pinched but today she asked me how hot the ecm should be getting? Apparently it’s getting hot enough to burn in touch sooooo bad ecm?
