2.8L/3.4L timing table questions.

Not sure where this should be, and this category seems like the best....

I have an 85's S15 that had the 2.8L but was replaced with a 3.4L from a 93 Camaro. I adapted an '88 TBI system to it and am running the stock BIN tuning less the BLM tables being tweaked in the cruise areas. It runs pretty good with moderate driving habits.

It's been a while, (like a year), since I've done any tuning since I have not been driving it that much, but since my DD is down at the moment, I have been driving this truck and have been looking over the tuning again because I still have yet to get into the PE aspect.

So pretty much as it stands, it doesn't seem to get up and go too quickly when you stand on the pedal. I suspect that this is tuning related.

Specs are, 2.8l throttle body with 4.3l injectors. BPW has been adjusted for that. 3.4l block, stock heads. 12 PSI fuel pressure. BLM's in cruise/light throttle areas are pretty close to 128. Have a wideband O2 gauge installed.

One question I do have is in regards to the timing table. Considering the bore and stroke of the 2.8l with the 3.4l having a larger bore and stroke, should I be using the timing table from the P66 tables instead of the 2.8L table? It's been a while since I looked at them, but it seemed that the timing of the 3.4 was advanced more than the 2.8l table.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: 2.8L/3.4L timing table questions.

I think you answered your own question. If the 3.4l tables have more SA, try them and see how it is.
