the problem with the emulator

Hello everyone, a question from Russia))) I bought an emulator - made in Russia, ECM not see chip, ecm go limp home mode (no chip ) machine Chevrolet celebrity 1988 2.8 l mpfi (01227730 ECM) emulator mode 27c256 (512 offset 8000) about the emulator does not make sense to tell you, as it is from Russia)))) just list what may be the cause of the problem....

How does it connect to the ecm without a memcal ?

If it has a ribbon cable make sure it’s orientation is correct.
