Crazy intermittent no start- EBL

Car won't start. No spark. Car will start and run for days, weeks or months then condition returns.
Can check sig for a lot of details.
EBL computer (don't believe it's the problem but relevant)
Basically "stock" ignition with remote coil and MSD 6AL
I can easily bypass MSD so I've tried it with and without box. When I manually ground the MSD trigger wire the coil will spark through the coil wire.
Replaced module in dizzy, cap and rotor. Ran for a few blocks (with MSD) then quit.
Bypassed the MSD same problem.
I'm wondering if the "ignition control module" on the firewall is a possible culprit. I've never changed it.

Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

Re: Crazy intermittent no start- EBL

Pickup coil in distributor is a likely culprit. If the unit on the firewall is a flat square box, that is the knock filter and won't prevent the ignition system from sparking.

Yes, that's the one I was describing. Thanks for the input. The pickup coil is a cheap item to try. Anyone know the test method? Ohm check I presume.

Yes, should be between 900 and 1,000 ohms. But being intermittent it might pass the test and still be bad. Worst part of replacing the pickup coil is removing the distributor shaft. A can of carb gum cutter is helpful here.

Once again all hail to the guru. Replaced the pick up coil and it fired right up. Thanks so much RBob. BTW the EBL dashboard was helpful- when cranking there was no "RPM" on the readout. Helped with troubleshooting. A+++
