Trouble Replacing 1227165 ECM with 88999128
Hi Everyone, I was looking for help sorting out whether it is possible to replace my 1986 Trans Am's 1227165 ECM with the 88999128 ECM. I got the 88999128 hoping to install it, but it looks like the prom chip is physically a different size than the 1227165's. I am also unsure if the calpak would be compatible. The 88999128 has no memcal slot. Am I up the creek and need to find a different replacement ECM or am I missing a solution to this? Thank you for any help offered.

I think the 88999128 is like a 1226870 but superseded. Not interchangeable with the 165.
