Haltech ECM problem

Re: Haltech ECM problem

A high idle speed is usually caused by too much air flow into the engine.

* Throttle blade stop screw is turned too high.
* ECM idle settings is commanding too much idle air control (IAC) valve opening.
* Unintentional air flow with a vacuum leak or hole in the intake manifold.

Too much timing advance or an incorrectly calibrated MAF sensor can exacerbate the issue.

Re: Haltech ECM problem

Thank you for your answer, I'll look on the side of an air intake... The ECM does not have an IAC setting parameter? I did not find!!!

Re: Haltech ECM problem

The ECM automatically controls the IAC valve and Spark Advance at idle to try to hit target idle speed. IAC at idle is not something you tune in the software other than the PID settings for how fast you want it to react. The way you turn up/down IAC percent opening is by adjusting the base air flow using the throttle body stop screw. More air into the engine and the IAC will close down some. Less air into the engine and the IAC will be used more to manage air flow at idle.

There are other parameters in software for IAC settings when engine is driving down the road, and especially for when engine is returning to idle. IAC is very important to how the engine coast down and settles into idle.

Tuning idle is actually one of the more difficult things to do with electronic fuel injection. Your struggles are normal. You'll get it figured out!

A suivre
