Ecm problem??? 87 v6 camaro
Ecm problem??? 87 v6 camaro
Not sure of I'm in the right place but when a scanner is plugged in it says it's a 2.4 4cyl but it's actually a 2.8 v6. How does that happen and how do I fix it? And before anyone says anything it's the wife's car so an engine swap is not an option. Help me please!!

I believe the scanner used could be used on obd 1 and 2 with the adapers. It was a snap-on scanner. The engine light isn't on but it always feels like it's not getting enough gas or air. Just feels kinda flat all the time. Especially first thing in the morning.

The mt2500 should work without issues, if newer snap on might not be backwards compatible. You might state what model snap on your using so others can chime in.
was there a vin entered to determine engine size ?

It's a snap-on brick. The vin was entered but showed on the scanner as 4cyl. The vin was then verified as a v6 and since I'm the 2nd owner I'm well aware of its history its always been a v6.

If vin 8 is S look at data see if data is skewed Blm , cts , tps ect. If it looks correct it’s reading the 302 ecm correctly and just a glitch in the snap on software for scanner. You can use tuner pro rt and maybe winaldl to better view data.
