cam swap/chip change question

I presently have a stock LG4 with the computer controlled Q-jet. I am going to change the cam either to a Comp Cams XE256 or XE262. I am also going to rebuild the heads and add headers. Will I need to get a new chip for the computer, or will the stock one be fine? What effects will not installing a new chip have?
