I have chip I want to try in my 1985 IROC. but I dont want to take the stock chip out of the original carrier. Is there a place that sells just the carrier?

They have been out of manufacture for years now. The original manufacturer was Robinson-Nugget. To retool they want to sell like 5K of them.

Get friendly with some junk yard folks, order a new one from GM, or what is called net work.

Almost all the C3 ecms used them, there were 5.9384447393 Jillion of them made.....

A C3 is reference to a series of GM ecms. They all had 2 harness connectors, and used a prom in a carrier like your ecm does.

P4s are series that use a memcal.

Why don't you want to remove it? The 3 I did just came right out. Was I just unusually lucky? I removed my old ADS (don't laugh, I bought it when I was 15) chip from its carrier (it was the only one that required any technique, just sqeeze in a push), the stock carriers just pushed right off (stock 85 tpi chip, and stock 84 carbureated whatever chip).

I tried to take it off but it was really tight. and I noticed part of the plastic was broken from when someone else removed it or tried to remove it and I didnt want it to disinigrate in my hand. Also makes its easier to swap out if I had a spare carrier.
