Built cable and have last question..Craig

I was wondering if this cable (attached) will work with Craig's ECM850B and/or ECMV845? I am simply looking to monitor my car (1227165) on my laptop at this point. Will this cable make my ecm send at the optimal rate (8192) for an 87 ECM? Set me straight if I am going in the wrong direction to accomplish my goal. I plan on going to Radio Shack tomorrow to get the transistors and the switch. Is there anything in particular I need to know about the schematic before I go or I should ask for?

That's ment for the 160 baud winaldl, if you do a search you'll see what works and what doesn't. I'm pretty sure this won't but I don't have TPI so I could care less if it did .

Nope, won't work for 8192 baud. It's a one-way deal. For the 8192 you need to be able to send a request for data. Take a look at the 2-transistor link on my site. You should still be able to build it from RatShack parts, and folks say it works.

Do I need to jump/connect pins 7 to 8 at DB9? Also are 1 to 4 to 6 jumped/connected at the DB9 connector? My printout shows they are all connectod together and the picture (see link below) shows a break between 4 and 6 on my computer.

Here is the cable I am referring to:

OH! Can the diode be on backwards? I put the black end to ground?

Sorry about all the questions, I just dont want to fry anything.
