This is the first time i have tried this, but all the data is extremely eratic and surely is just garbage numbers (i.e. rpm goes from 0-5000 when at idle.) I have a 10k resistor in between "a" and "b" and ground at "a" and a data wire at "e". I have this cable:

Go to the defaults menu and put the program into diagnostic mode instead of offline mode...

 

Thanks craig, this seemed like it may work for me however my car doesn't run long enough to get linked up. should this software work if the ignition is on and the car not running or does the car have to be running?

 

Should work fine /w/ ignition on. You can test by watching the TPS, just move the accelerator while ignition is on...

 

that is what i would have guessed but i am receiving all zeros with the ignition on and car not running.

when your program says to press 1 untill data packets appear, they only appear when i crank the engine.

my car decided to start and i sould only get one data packet (i think) not sure what a data packet is. and still get all zeros when i press 2

I figured this out, polarity reversed @ ALDL
