Powering cable for Craig Moates Software

I was wondering about powering (+12volts )and grounding my cable through the ALDL port with terminals A & B. Is this an okay way to do this? Any body tried it? Also I was going to build the 10k resistor across the A&B terminals with a switch to bring up the diagnostic mode into the Max 232 converter box. Good? Bad?
Thanks,
Don

Great thought on the switch idea, that's the way I have mine set up. I put in a 3-position switch so I can short the leads for code flashing.

For the +12v, I don't think you'll get it from the A-B leads, but you can probably get away with using A as a ground. Although, I've tied a chassis ground to my A lead just to be good...

Thanks Craig,
I might get out the volt meter and see what the other ports puts out (like the fuel pump port) as far as voltage. I know someone else has also asked about using a 9 volt battery but has anyone tried it?

Yep, works fine. Just don't leave it on when you're not using it, it will drain the battery eventually. You can tie the PC port ground, the chassis ground, the ALDL ground, and the 9v battery ground all together without issue I believe...
