Ruined memcal, WHat to do?

Ok, i had a ZIF socket in my memcal but the ZIF broke (it was a lever type and did not fit length wise so i ground a little plastic off one end that is why it broke). I was going to install a new one and solder it on, that way i could leave it sit up higher and not have to remove plastic from it. I spent 2 hours soldering it initially and it did not work, fans came on immidately. I spent another 3 hours trying to get all connections and have no connections touching but could not do it.

Now my memcal is ruined. I know i can get a new one from GMpartsdirect.com for about $50. I do like burning chips but am not willing to sacrifice another memcal. I followed Traxions instructions on removing the chip and soldering on a ZIF socket very carefully.

Would anyone be willing to make me a memcal that i can easily replace the chip on (ZIF in place of chip)? If you give me a reasonable price to do it i can send you a check or what ever you prefer.

Or if some one has a Jet type adapter for sale i would be interested in that also. This would be preferred as i could retain the stock memcal w/o modification

thanks,
jake

Check out my adapter, it should set you up. Even in the EPROM-end of your Memcal is mutilated, you should still be in good shape.
