adapter needed??
Ok, this might be a really dumb question, but is there an adapter needed to plug the Eprom into the pocket programmer? Where and how much is this bad boy?
The pocket programmers socket looks sort of like this:
- -
- -
- - (totaling something like 30(?))
while the plastic carrier that the chip is soldered to looks like this

Any help is greatly appreciated, I really want to start this stuff soon...
Thanks,
Mike

You're good, the chip (if you're talking about a chip outside the Memcal carrier) should go right in. The Pocket Programmer, when the lever is set straight, will 'clamp' down on the legs of the chip...

but what about if its in the memcal carrier, I'd like to get a copy of the file used in the car currently. Also, is that where I would need one of the adapters that I saw you were selling later to plug my burned prom into the car?
I'm using the caprice chip and I downloaded the .bin file for it off of Jprevost's site, so I think I may have that part already.
Thanks,
Mike

If you are talking about a TBI EPROM, you need to remove the EPROM from the plastic carrier before you can put it in the programmer.
The first time you pop the EPROM out it will be a PITA.
I squeeze the carrier so the EPROM legs get pushed in towards each other. Then I push on the bottom of the EPROM a little. It should move easily. Then gently pry the sides of the carrier back and the legs should pop free.
Don't use much force on the carrier or you will bust it.
It just snaps back in place when you are done programming it.
