MAF and Highway Mode testing.
After getting my BLM close to 128 i decided to try out the Highway Mode to see if it works.
I have changed the Values pertaining to HM using WINBin.
- max LV8 to enable HM - 125
- min coolant degrees to HM - 130 F
- HM enable delay - 0
- max time in HM - 0
- min speed to HM - 35 mph
- min coolant to H Spark - 130 F
- min RPM to H Spark - 1500 RPM
- spark mode enable delay - 0
Went for a drive and gathered some data using Craig's updated program.
While checking the data I have noticed that the car would stay mostly in cell#6 and the O2 values became two digit number.
Also the A/F ratio was switching from 14.7 to 15.08 to 15.19 and to 15.29.
The closed loop status was always ON and did not change to Open Loop.
The TSA was also much higher at around 46 d at times.
Am i missing something elso to fully enable HM. I did some research and most of the info is for SD. I have checked the hack as well and there is a value of 6350 RPM to enable HM.
IS this value pertaing to min RPM's for H Spark or for HM?
Does anybody know the exact hex address for the 6350 RPM value in the 6E code?
Any comments, suggestions, help would be very appreciated.

I don't know about the hex address part, but if you had the 'max time in HW mode' set to 0, it should be immediately kicking back out of HW mode, afaik.

Sounds like you got it working to me, since my O2 sensor does the same thing, and the A/F ratio goes up (although I have mine set at 15.8). The closed loop status won't change since all that does is tell you that the conditions for closed loop (engine run time, O2 sensor hysteresis, min. coolant temp) have been met. Even at WOT, it'll still say closed loop. Look at the BLM and INT to see if they either stop changing or they go to 128 (I forget which happens) and the learn control turns to off.
The min. RPM value is for HM Spark, but I never got that to work. I just raised the spark advance values in the main table where my engine is cruising like on the highway and such.

Thanks Greg.
The INT always stays at 128 and the BLM values don't change at all when O2 values stays two digit.
The Min RPM to H Spark was always set low in my stock bin at 1600 RPM's and was never set to 6350 RPM's. (Am i confusing this with something else?)
However, the learn flag is always ON.
I have to do more testing I guess and the best prove to see if the HM is working would be improved gas mileage.
Thanks.

Yeah, I have an AFR gauge on my ride and I can see the LEDs drop nearly right off the gauge when HM hits and mine always reads closed loop too (with CM's software). I also get the double digit O2 readings.
After perusing some past logs, mine seems to like cell 10 when in HM and my HM spark advance adder is definately working (no knock with up to 45d in HM). The AFR as read by the scantool goes to around 16.0 when HM hits. This is older data and I currently do not have HM enabled as I am currently 'playing'.
I definately get some good mileage with mine when HM is enabled. Definately a noticable gain. I did a PROM for another friend of mine (basically a plain ARAP with a few minor tweaks) and he averaged 27mpg on a trip from Minneapolis to Chicago and back (that included around town stuff).

Thanks Matt.
I have noticed that while cruising on the highway at a steady speed of 65mph, with the HM enabled (as far as i know) and after looking at the data at home i notice that the A/F ration would change from 14.71 to 15.5
It would stay in 14.71 for 5s and then would go back to 15.5 for 5 seconds or so and back and forth like that. Sometimes it would stay longer at 15.5 and sometimes not.
Am i missing something here or is it normal. Should't it the HM A/F ratio always be 15.5?
Thanks guys.

I went to look at the setting you are referring to, but cannot find them. I'm using the "32Bv001.ecu" and "87GTA350.BIN" as well as a "89350TPI.bin" but cannot find the settings. Can you send me the ECU you are using?
Thanks,
Thanks,
How can i tell if my car is in hwy mode? my scanner does not
show a/f ratio. ive been playing w/it but not certain if it is working.
I do see my blm's and int stay @ 128 but itll do that sometimes even when not in since ive gotten fuel tuned better.

Drive it, yes I am going to change the Max time in HFM to 60s or even 255 and see what happens.
Rottie, the newest ECU version9 is available for download from Craigs site. I think it only works with WinBin.
Choaner, what i have noticed when HM is enabled for several seconds the INT locks at 128, the Learn Flag mode goes OFF, O2 values drop to 2 digit numbers and some scanners will show open loop mode.
Thanks for help everybody.
