I am still fairly very new to the chip world but I had a question about chips. I did a search but found now topics. Do you think I would encounter a problem using a AT29C512-70PC-ND chip. This will be for a 91 TPI so could I use these and just load a double bin on them? The only reason I ask is cause I can pick these up alot easier than the AT29C256s. One of my offices has the 512s. I looked and the Pocket Programmer supports them. Was wondering if they would work or anyone was using them. Thanks

I think the 512s have the wrong number of pins.

Yep, 512s and up are 32-pin. 29C256, I THINK, is the only flash chip that is an easy drop-in.

Of course, you can remap the pins of the 29C512 and higher to the 28-pin socket, but that is a tale of a different length...

Dont even go there... lol Actually after I posted I was driving to one of my offices and was thinking about the chip and realized it was the 32 pin and thought about remapping the pins but there is just too many projects going on at once. Not worth the time just to save a little money.

Craig: I may end up tempting to do a port ALDL diagonistic software over to the Pocket PC. Mind if I bug you sometime because I am not famaliar with the calls it will make to the ALDL or the format in which data will be comin out. At least that will give me something to use until I cant find the right sized touch LCD to fit above my a/c controls.
