Can timing changes effect the IAC?

When I started burning my own proms the IAC reading was normal (40-50 steps at idle). I noticed the other day that it had climbed to about 80-90 steps ta idle and 135 while driving. The only tables that I have really modified are the main spark tables, could this effect the IAC or do I need to go looking for other problems? Thanks

Personally, I tune for min IAC counts at idle. 0 is fine by me.

Yes, changing you timing, at idle, can change your IAC counts at idle.

The IAC has several functions, and one is as of a throttle follower, so you'll always see it rise with increases in throttle opening.

Changing timing at cruise or WOT won't affect the IAC counts.

First, thanks for your help grumpy I really appriciate (sp?) it.

Now, is it a bad thing that they are that high? should I change the timing to bring them lower?

One last thing, does raising the timing usually raise or lower the IAC counts?

TIA,

Jim
