knock counts

I seem to have my blm's narrowed down between 126-128. I have noticed that on my data runs @ part throttle going up a hill, i get knock counts when i shift from 5000rpms down to 3000 rpm's, blm's are 128. @ 3000 rpms when climbing the rpms from 2000-5000, I have no knock counts at the rpm where i shift at, however, I do get the knock counts when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Is this normal? Or am i missing sometheing?

That shift will probably put you in a different cell due to the load on the vehicle, get a data pull of that knock, and compare the load (maf/map reading) to the load at the same RPM when you're not knocking, when you're not knocking it will probably be less load. Also keep in mind that your knock will be coming from a second or two BEFORE you get it, So think how you can lower combustion chamber temps just previous to your knock, maybe an extra AE shot, or a few degrees less timing, or whatever method you so chose.

Yes, I have already thought of that and the map values are around 50-60 both when accelerating from 2000-5000 with a load on the engine and when I shift from 5000-3000 the map value is about the same?? I did pull some timming out of the table between 2800-3500. I multiplied that area by .97 my Blm's are really close 126-128. However, when I let off the throttle, my blm's go up to 140 for a short time. I would think this is normal since i am taking my foot off the throttle? Or is there a way i can fix this???

The conditions you describe are very similar to mine. at idle i get blm 140 or so when driving 130. knock counts are at 20-30 with 98 octane while driving. What gas are you using and what is compression ratio?

I found my knock counts to go down when goin from95 to 98 octane

I dont run SD yet and have little experience with it...

However as far as your decell condition in maf code you can correct/change all that with DFCO arrays when I take my foot off my 02 reads as low as .50 mv sometimes

My BLM's are almost constant 126-128 except when i decelerate. I get the knock counts at the shifting points??? I use 94 octane and I have put a can of 104 in and i get the same results. I'm gonna try and pull a littl more timming out.

Craig, maybe the KS is picking up the "mechanical" noise of shifting. and it is not a preignition issue--just a thought. what is your timing at the knock point, base timing? Mike
