PP2 problem, loading and burning EPROM

Ok, this was supposed to be my first burn of an EPROM. I snagged the ARAP.bin file and looked over it. I decided that it was a good starting point for my 89 MAF car. I got that far so I decided that I would attempt to burn it. I wanted to test it out today on the drive to work. Well, I erased a spare stock chip I have. I then stuck it in the programmer and verifyied that it was erased. So I tried to load a new .bin file (perhaps the wrong thing to do???) It gave me an error message to the tune of

" '$|#' is not a valid integer value."

So I shut down PP2 and thought that if I reopened it I would just try it again. Well no... I reopened it, it verifyies that the PP2 is present, gives me a "No Device was Selected" message and then it repeats the other message up there.

What did I do wrong???

Ok ya know what, nevermind the first post. All I need to know is what to do here.

I have the 87 Corvette chip I erased. I am not sure if its any different than the 89 "chip." It tells me there is no device selected. What do I select?? Sorry for the totally "newbie" questions. I have been wadeing through this stuff for about an hour now and getting frustrated with not being able to find somthing as simple as a step by step topic on how to burn a chip.

I read the intro, but thats very vague on how to actually do it.

Kinda like talking to myself here lol. I got it to burn BUT I get a 1500 RPM idle in P or N and a 1000 idle in gear. I also get an immediate SES light and a slight stumble upon throttle initiation.

I must have done somthing wrong.

When I used to use ARAP bin on my car it used to idle high too, about 1,200 RPM. More importantly do a code scan and tell us what codes you are throwing.

Read your stock prom, and try to burn your other one with that.
The car should run exactly the same

You do have to select devise and tell the programmer what your programming.

Couple boxes down from verify devise

Grumpy, would it be too much to ask for you to perhaps tell me which device it is I need to select? Those numbers don't look familiar to me at all. As far as I have understood things so far, and remember I am still a novice at this, I have a 165 ECM from 89 which is the $6E and the 87 corvette bin I took off the other EPROM I used to try to burn the ARAP.bin requires the $32B. Soo... I guess I am asking these 2 EPROMs are different and if so, which "Devices" would I need to select in the list to have a correct burn done?

Exponential Thanks in advance :hail:

Seems I have found the answer on a web address I had not visited yet. I burned the arap.bin successfully and plugged it in, it works great. I was kind of hoping for a semi-silver bullet seeing as how I used to get about 2 or 3 SES codes. It took care of 2 but not the third. I still have a lean condition every once in a while and I also have this strange thing that happens while cruising. The car acts as if... and this is a rather strange metaphor for it.... as if it is being bounced back and fourth ( Front to back) while cruising, obviously the engine is the culprit. It doesn't happen under light, moderate or heavy throttle. Is this somthing that has to do with the 110* LSA cam thats not pulling enough vacuum? Or is it possibly a case of not having enough Fuel Pressure? I have an AFPR and I cranked it about half way down. ( I know I know... get a guage on it) Perhaps I have too much fuel pressure? Maybe I'll make a new topic of these questions if my searches come up empty.
