747 winaldl no data
747 winaldl no data
I've serched alot and I can't seem to find the problem.
I have a 91 C/K1500 w/ 350.
I made the cable exactly like on the winaldl site.
When I hook up to the aldl connector I don't get any data.
I have tried useing the 10K ohm resistor over A & B, but that only raised the idle some.
Is there a specific sequence to start for this to work. I have tried restarting winaldl while the truck is running, starting the truck while the winaldl is running, added 10k to A & B while running, plugged the laptop in, but I can't get any data.
I don't want to damage anything can someone please help.
Thanks

One thing that gave me trouble was that the DB-9 connector was grounding out the signal. If you have a crome looking one this could be the cause. I had to make sure all my wires were covered in tape. Even though the case is plastic the cheap crome covering does conduct. Try linking to the aldl with the curicuit fully exposed.
Thanks, mine is exposed now till I get it to work then I'm going to do a final product. The case I have is completly plastic too.
I didn't search enough. I found out that I mirrored the DB9 connector. I thought on the diagram it was showing the front, or the side that plugges into the laptop. I then proceded to read the fine print on the connector, and found I did it bass ackwards.
Sorry for not searching more.
Did you need the 10k resistor connected to get info, or could you use the aldl w/o?
Thanks again

Are you talking about the diagram that shows a 10k between a two pins on the aldl, The answer is no, you don't need it, (but it will work either way) as far as I know the resistor is for the 065 ecm and not the 747. Don't feel too bad about messing up, I did the exact same thing.
ok, I have a 7747.. I am trying to datalog with WinALDL or TunerPro.. I built this circuit:

I am using the same ports on the aldl connector as illustrated in that pic...
Both applications seem to recognize the cable and act like they connect but I get no data...???
I have read that the 7747 does not need a resistor between the A&B ports..
I also have a moates autoprom and I get the exact same results with it....
If anyone has any ideas please advise...
I have tried 2 laptops..
Thanks,
-Matt

Yeah.. I got the autoprom working last night.... It helps when you read the read-me and set the comm port up properly...
Still can't get the cable I made to work... Do you guys know if you need to make any changes to the comm port settings to use a cable like the one I posted?
Thanks,
-Matt
