What happened?
What happened?
Hey Guys!!>
> Tried to burn my fist chip, used a header to connect my factory prom (still in the factory PROM/Limp Home Citcuit holder) to the Pocket Programmer:
Moved data to buffer sucessfully and programmed it to a blank Eprom I had just erased. I use a Craig Moates ZIF adapter with the factory PROM/Limp Home Circuit holder inserted sidways into the MEMCAL holder.
I didn't make any changes to the factory bin file as I just wanted to get a properly burned chip. When I installed and drove it's pretty obvious I'm in limp home mode, Datamaster isn't recording data except for MAP and gives me a a DTC Err of 51: EPROM Checksum Fail and the SES light on the dash flaskes off and on very quickley (cycles 8 or 10 per second). I took the Craig Moates adapter off and reinserted the original prom in it's stock position and the same thing happened. What do you think I've done wrong? So close yet so far. In fact further back than when I started!! Did I fry my factory chip? That's what I was trying to avoid!! All the Eproms check out and verify in the Pocket Programmer and TunerCat software??? Hope some of you take pity on a first timer
1995 4wd auto E/OD GT4 Suburban:
I have replaced the original 5.7 motor with a 355 c.i.
Crane cam [part # 113931]
pair of 23° twisted wedge Trick Flow heads
K&N air filter
1 5/8" Flow Tech shorty headers with O2 sensor
2 1/2" dual exhaust with dual cats, mufflers and no crossover tube
8mm ignition wires.
The rest of the motor and car is bone stock.

Sure the chip isn't inserted backwards? The direction of the chip in the adapter should be with the notch 'away' from the ZIF handle, so the notch is pointed to the outside of the adapter. Sounds like you programmed the chip OK, but the direction in the adapter is 'opposite' that of the pocket programmer.
May not be the issue, maybe you wiggled something loose?
