15.63 MAF reading at high idle? weird idle! Dunno what to change..

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out my weird idle. I know my combo is a little too much for a stock prom, but i'm not sure what to change at this point because based on most of my searching - things seem ok.

-- THESE READINGS WITH 10K ACCROSS A AND B WHICH MAINTAINS A 1300-1350 IDLE -- It idles up and down between 600 and 1000 normally, and stalls often. Stalls when slowing down to idle at a red light (5 spd car, Auto prom).

MAF however seems a bit high at idle. 15.63 g/s ??

BLM's consistant 128 at idle, sometimes go a little rich to 109,
but shoot back up.

INT stays around 125, sometimes hits 128, sometimes goes to 95. But for the most part stays at 125.

O2 voltage - blah, this goes from .007 to .600, depending at if the
idle is up or down.

IAC reads between 104 and 154, and goes all over the place.

I'm scanning with WinAldl, but will do some data logging tonight with Craig's software.. I've tried adjusting idle via IAC and TPS. It holds fairly well.

I'll do some scanning with the idle normal with A and B not jumpered with 10k resister to see if anything is different - other than the higher idle, that is if it stays running long enough. Fuel pressure right now is set to 48PSI with vaccume line connected
at idle. I set it based on o2's because the thing was running wicked lean (like .200 - .300 os) at idle and shift for 90% of the time.

Mods in sig.. Any assistance will be appreciated. My pocket programmer won't show up this week, but I'm gonna stat hacking the prom today or tomorrow with winbin..

couple things, the MAF reading isn't bad at that RPM,would be 7-8 at a normal idle.Do you have a heated 02 sensor with your headers this could help it be more accurate, most importantly it's could to have the car in a good state of tune before you make major changes like cam heads power adder etc...to eliminate some of the guessing when trouble shooting.check your basics i always seem to find a vacuum leak or something basic when i think I have a computer type problem,as far as the chip burning I don't know too much about it,been reading everything on it but I have a stock chip in my car and it runs a lot better with that than my TPIS custom(P.O.S.)maybe when I put my cam and heads in their chip will work ,but I told them my mods when they made it

If you are going to be burning prom's then go ahead and burn one with the ARAP .bin and then do your data logging with that in.

When you use Craig M's software it should command your idle back down to "normal", even with the 10k resistor in place. Then you'll be able to see what your "true" gps are at idle.

I'll give it a try tonight, and re-print the readings. But the prom I'm usnig is like not even close to what I'm running. My EGR solenoid isn't connected, its a stick car but auto prom, etc.

Thanks!

Forgot you were running a stick. There is a flag for manual trans in the 6E mask for the ARAP.bin in Winbin. Don't know if you'd to do more than change that flag or not, might be worth a try.

I'm having a hell of a time getting WinBin to work on any of my computers, it reports the infamous port errors when you "edit" the file. I think I'm just gonna buy tunercat.

I'll give that a try.. The car used to be auto, but converted it over. Fun stuff.
