How do I start tuning my spark advance??
How do I start tuning my spark advance??
Again, this is on a '92 LT1 corvette. Please excuse my "newbiness".. I have read through a bunch of articles, and am trying to get a grasp on things, but it is all a little overwhelming..
Here is where I am at: I have taken 5 or 6 runs and have been adjusting my VE tables. From about 700-3000rpms, and from ~35Kpa to 90kpa, I have gotten all my BLMS within +/- 2% of 128. From some other articles, it looks like now would be a good time to start playing with spark advance for crusing.
Where do I start?? I am getting absolutely no knock at any RPM right now. Can I safely advance timing by 2 degrees across the board?? What is the best way to do it? Advance timing by 2 degrees across the board, and see if there is knock.. if not, advance by 2 more degrees, until I get knock, then start playing with individual values to get rid of the knock??

You don't ever want to tune for knock. Tune for performance.
How do you measure performance at part throttle? With the TPS. You want the least amount of TPS required to maintain a given speed.
MAP is another indicator of part throttle performance. You want the least amount of MAP for a given speed.
