Yet another question on my new engine fire up....

I know you guys have seen my posts before. I am almost done installing my stealth ram, AFR 195cc heads, and a big cam (230/236 dur at .050, .510/.520 lift, 110 deg lobe sep). I have a basically stock chip, the fuel curves may be modified slightly but not significantly. I am cutting the idle range VE tables by 25%, since this new setup will be much less efficient in the idle range than my current setup. What about from 1000 RPMs on up though?? What should I do for the VE tables for that?? I am questioning this because I want to be able to safely rev the motor without damaging anything. Anything else I should know before I crank the motor?? Thanks in advance.

Glenn, Traxion, Grumpy, anyone know?? I would think that the engine will need more fuel at 1000 RPMs + but I'm not sure. Thanks.

The reason no one has answered is because you are asking an unanswerable question. You might as well call some custom chip tuner and tell them the specs of your engine and have them burn a chip for you so that you can use that bin as a base. Believe it or not, that's what you're asking for. The only way you can burn a nice chip for it is to start with a base that has all the things you have changed in it correctly like injector size, cylinder size, etc. And of course cut some fuel like you said at idle. Then just start tuning by deciphering the data.

having the ecm # might help. also your on the right track with the idea about cutting idle fuel. i think 25% is a bit extreme. just get it runnign collect data. post the data and we will help you mke a smart choice.

I know I can't get a perfect chip on the first try without even getting any data. I was just trying to get an idea so that I have something to start with. I don't want to start the motor and potentially damage it because of a chip that is way too far off. It's a 730 s/d ecm if that makes a difference. Thanks for the replies.

Attached is the bin file that mike runs in his car, here is his web site:

He has a ZZ4 with a hot cam, heads, ported intake and some other stuff. I would copy the VE tables he has and paste them into your prom. They should be good enough to get your car started.
